Field Testing and Evaluation of Twelve Submerged Resources in Pool 3 Monongahela River, PA

SCOPE

Underwater archaeological project was undertaken in conjunction with the planned navigational improvement project in Pool 3 of the Monongahela River, PA. Maritime historical research on coal boats, flats, and coal barges was conducted prior to fieldwork activities. Twelve submerged sites were the focus of the archaeological project. Sonar surveys, diving, and site mapping were conducted at the 12 sites during the investigation.
